Mi Aceh, literally translated as Acehnese Noodle, displays a blend of Chinese and Indian culinary influences. Imagine a bowl full of thick, yellow egg noodle immersed in heart curry made from the finest local ingredients. The Acehnese noodle has two style of serving:
Fried version of Mi Aceh
Soup version of Mi Aceh
With adding protein from beef,chicken, lamb or crab. The fried version is suitable for those with a pencant for bold and flavourful dishes. But as beginner, it would be wise to start with some soup. Now lets make your own Mi Aceh .

Before you start cooking, all thing you need prepare are :
Main Ingredients :
- 1 Crab ( around 300 grams, clean and cut into 4 pieces )
- 1 serving fresh egg noodle
- One glass of water
- Oil ( for sautee)
Spice Paste :
- 50 grams dried red chilies
- 6 candlenuts (Fried)
- 25 grams peanuts
- 25 gram dried shrimp
- 8 shallots
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
How To Cook :
- Using mortar and pestle, grind all the spices into spice paste. you can also blend them in food processor.
- Heat a little cooking oil in a wok. Sautee the spice passte until fragnant and cooked through.
- Pour in one glass of hot water. Add the crab ( if you wish, fell free to add sliced cabbage).
- After the crabs turns red, and its meat is cooked through, add the noodle.
- Serve with fried shallots, fried emping ( crackers made from gnetum gnemon seeds) and pickled cucumber and shallots.
